The WorkReady Classroom was created by the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) as a free easy to use on-line resource for youth workforce development professionals, educators, juvenile justice workers, guidance counselors and social workers. The WorkReady Classroom is comprised of eleven domains, each with a set of competencies and achievement indicators necessary for a young person's success in today's workforce.
In 2006, the eleven domains were aligned with the Youth Workforce Development System Competencies developed in partnership by Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board, The Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board and The Philadelphia Youth Network, which highlighted the need for a vehicle to share resources and information.
The WorkReady Classroom also is aligned with the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. The Partnership's framework for learning in the 21st century is based on the essential skills that young people need to succeed as citizens and workers in the 21st century.
The WorkReady Classroom provides a series of free downloadable step-by-step activities, links to web-based resources, rubrics to measure progress, a form to document progress, recommended portfolio items, and additional print resources.
